John Lewis New Building In Leeds Victoria Gate

A Little off topic post but i couldn't help myself, i was out and about in Leeds city centre this evening with some friends when we met a nice chap who told us about the new John Lewis at Victoria Gate.

    John Lewis, Leeds Victoria Gate

This chap (i didn't get his name) had been out scouting some locations for his photography and he saw us with our cameras and came over for a little chat.

We had the old Canon Vs Nikon debate!

He saw us with our cameras and we got into the old Canon Vs Nikon debate before we laughed and discussed what we were shooting.

We had come only for Leeds docks but at this point he mentioned the new building in the town centre, and since we were there already we thought we would go and check it out.

We headed off to find the new building which had just opened earlier this week as apparently it is a bit of a stunner to look at.

As we walked from leeds dock over the bridge and into the town centre we struggled to see it but as we closed in on the bus station we saw in the distance above the market stalls the stunning exterior of this fabulous building.

    It stood tall and majestic

Our pace quickened and as we walked through the market and onto the road next to the building it stood tall and majestic right in front of us.

What a truly remarkable building, we first spotted the car park (or what i assume is a car park) then to the left is the actual building which you can see in the picture.

Both the car park exterior and the john lewis store are both incredible to look at on an evening when they are all lit up but the best of the 2 is by far the john lewis store.

It has a cathederal look to it (i am no architectural expert so not entirely sure how to put that into words correctly) the exterior appears to be a sandstone or terracotta which adds to this look and feel of the building.

Echoes the cloth and textile history of the city

Actually I've just done a bit of research and the inspiration for the building was drawn from Leeds Cloth and textile heritage, ill agree they certainly have given this building a texture which also echoes the civic buildings within the city with its 3 dimensional frontage or (facades).

So as mentioned this is a bit off topic and maybe one day ill manage to go inside just to check out the washroom facilities since thats what we do :) you can see a few of the images i took tonight on my trip arounds leeds dock

  • The Best Hand Dryers of 2016 UK Markets

What are the best hand dryers available in the UK Market? well its tough to narrow it down to a particular dryer since your location and required usage may differ from others however with that said we will list some superb options we have available.

First question : High speed or energy efficient dryer?

    Energy Efficient Hand Dryers

The difference here is that the high speed dryers tend to use more power than the energy efficient ones.

Giving you a faster drying time where as an energy efficient dryer uses less power and possibly takes a little longer to dry your hands thoroughly.

Normally small office locations or seldom used public toilets would opt for an energy efficient unit.

Where as a very busy public toilet may opt for a fast hand drying option such as this Premium hand dryer which offers a massive 3 year warranty and incredibly fast hand drying.

Another good option would be the Dyson DB14 dryer which is slightly faster than other blade dryers (looks great as well)

Or if your after a hands under dryer rather than the hands in dyson DB14 you could opt for the Dyson V.

You can see our full range of high speed best hand dryers here.

Back to energy efficient hand dryers we have a large number of low powered fast drying units available which can dry your hands using less power than the faster models.

Don't be fooled though even though the unit is overall less powerful in its output it doesn't mean you are getting less of a drying experience.

For instance the Airforce hand dryer is an incredibly efficient and fast drying unit designed for high volume use giving a drying time of 12-15 seconds using only 1.1kw of power.

The fast premium dryer from Pelsis uses slightly less power than the airforce model but matches it in drying time (14-17 seconds) but beats it using only 1kw compared to 1.1 of the airforce.

Question 2: Is price an issue?

    budget hand dryers

If price is an issue for you then you could opt for a more cost effective dryer however usually you will lose on performance compared to the hand dryers mentioned earlier but you will save a considerable amount on your purchase price.

For instance the Pelsis budget hand dryer comes in at time of writing this £47.49 plus VAT this dryer is one of the best "budget" options.

Offering you a drying time of around 30 seconds but costing 5 times less than the top end models.

It is worth noting though that budget dryers are not designed for heavy use bathrooms so if you have more than 20-30 people a day using the dryers its worth opting for a mid range dryer which would be more hard wearing.

Mid range dryers are designed for use in medium traffic washrooms, ideal for busy office facilities, for this type of usage we would suggest a levante 2.2kW hand dryer.

This type of dryer is the "standard" type of dryer you will have seen in many pubic bathroom areas usually offering you a swivel nozzle allowing hand and face drying.

There are other factors to think about when looking for the best hand dryers such as design, vandal resistance and how long the motor lasts but we will cover those at another time.

But as you can see there clearly is space for a new hand dryer which allows for cost effective fast hand drying whilst saving energy and not costing the earth.

  • Air fresheners, Everything You Need to Know.

Air Fresheners - Washroom UK comprehensive guide to everything you need to know about air care for your home or business

Air Fresheners Everything you would probably want to know

Air fresheners are used in many public spaces for instance in your office, public toilet areas and even in your own car or home but aren't you interested in how they work or if they really get rid of bad odours? or more importantly can they harm you or your family?

So how do air fresheners actually work?

Inside each can of air freshener are tiny molecules which are turned from a liquid into a gas when the nozzle is pressed at room temperature.

Everyone has a sense of smell (well for the most part) and our noses can detect these tiny molecules in the air which have sent from the can of freshener and this is the basics of how air fresheners work.

The word Aerosol literally means "dissolves in air" and when the nozzle is pressed the liquid held within the can which is under pressure shoots out and dissolves allowing the molecules to disperse.

In each can of air fragrance the nice smelly molecules are mixed with an aerosol propellant to help dispense the fragrance were it is needed.

Its worth noting that an air freshener doesn't actually kill or remove the bad odours already in the air it just replaces and overpowers them by using stronger smelling molecules.

After a while these will slowly fall downwards and the odour within the room will once again be more noticable.

A good air freshener dispenser will allow you to set a certain time period between "sprays" and usually 15-30 minute intervals is a good number to work with.

Unless the area is particularly bad at which point you may need to spray more frequently for instance every 7 minutes.

    Odour eliminators work differently

Odour eliminating works by using a spray or similar device which uses a molecule called cyclodextrin, this molecule attaches itself to bad odour molecules.

Once the water it is suspended within starts to dry the bad odour molecules are trapped within the cyclodextrin which reduces their smell effectively eliminating the odour.

    Air fresheners harmful to humans?

There are many discussions that argue for and against being harmful to humans but it is widely thought that if used moderately air fresheners are not dangerous.

However its worth noting that if you have staff who have allergies towards air fresheners then avoid use.

Couldn't we just use perfume instead?

The main difference is the way the fragrance disperses, perfumes are designed to be used on open areas of skin where the heat breaks the molecules of water which then diffuses the perfume into the air and at an incredible cost.

Air fresheners are designed to allow the fragrance to be placed into the air by use of the nozzle which then drifts down masking bad odours or neutralising them (dependant on which type you purchase) and at a fraction of the cost of perfume.

Why don't you check out our comprehensive range of air fresheners over on our main website!

  • The Weather is Changing & Germs are spreading!

Its that time of year when the weather starts turning from a warm and comfortable to cold and miserable :/ but on the plus side that means its coming up to Christmas!

The fluctuations in temperature and weather at this time of year always get me and many others with the nasty cold and flue virus.

Colds effect everyone eventually but the young and old are far more vulnerable to the effects of these winter viruses than you or I.

Unfortunately its almost impossible to not catch a cold but we can minimise our risk to catching it by sanitising your hands, since it is usually transferred from hand to mouth (or via water droplets in the air which is much harder to avoid).

So now is the time to start looking after yourself and your staff with a selection of products to sanitise hands and local areas to keep you and your staff healthy through this transition from warm to cold.

Simply use these products on dry hands giving an overall coverage from finger tips to the palms of the hand which kills 99.9% of bacteria you can pick up from any surface.

Good luck! unfortunately i havve had my first cold of the year already :/

  • Tork Smart One - Smarter Than The Average Toilet Paper System

Tork Smart One - The Smart System

Tork smart one toilet paper dispenser

The best selling Tork Smart One toilet tissue dispensers have become even smarter following the acquisition of lotus by Tork

Tork have released a new smarter system which is shallower than the old units by 17mm and have updated the design to look even better than before.

The Smart one toilet paper dispenser are nice and compact which allows them to fit into even the smallest of toilet cubicles. Plus the paper now has the Tork leaf design allowing your customers or staff to see they are using only the highest quality paper product.

    Popular toilet paper delivery system

The main reason the tork smart one system is so popular is due to its cost in use, hygiene & sustainability compared to the others on the market,One of the main advantages nobody thinks about is the reduction of paper entering into the drainage system this reduces blockages and the costs involved in cleaning them up.

The smart one system is EU Ecolabel certified and dispenses the paper via a new nozzle on the front of the dispenser and ensures only 1 sheet of paper is removed at a time. This automatically reduces your paper consumption by 40% and you should get an incredible 98 more visits per roll with the Tork smart one than a standard toilet roll.

Stops cross contamination & Insertion of foreign objects

The way the unit has been designed allows everything to be enclosed safely inside with only the paper sticking out. Some other toilet roll systems allow customers or staff to place their hands inside the dispenser which can lead to cross contamination.

The enclosure of the Tork smart one dispenser also prevents the end user from inserting anything inside the dispenser.  This can be a major problem for hospitals or public convenience where needles and drugs may be hidden inside them.

new tork smart one toilet roll dispenser 1 sheet at a time

    Saves consumption & Emissions

By the very fact the smart one dispenser reduces consumption of your toilet rolls and less is wasted. Which means you will need to order less paper allowing you to save space in your storage room. But as a by product you will reduce the number of lorries travelling around the country to deliver the items which cuts emissions.

There are three different types of Tork smart one dispenser, the white and blue original dispenser, the mini and the dual mini smart one dispensers.

The Tork smart one dispenser has 1150 sheets per roll and is designed for medium to high traffic washroom areas. The mini has 620 sheets per roll of paper and the dual mini has 2 x 620 sheets per roll inside the dispenser.

    Vandal & Fire resistant

They are all fire and vandal resistant which makes them a great product for the vulnerable toilet areas, plus they have a dual setting lock allowing you to set your own security level. All in all these are superb toilet paper dispensers perfect for low traffic to high traffic environments.

Best of all they are tough, vandal resistant and save you money what more could you ask for?

Obviously this post was about the Tork smart one toilet paper system but we do have other toilet paper dispensers available on our eCommerce site.
